“ Sri Cahitanya Mahaprabhu, Who is known as Gauranga, is the ocean of all conclusive knowledge in devotional service. He empowered Sri Ramanda Raya, who may be likened to a cloud of devotional service. This cloud was filed with the water of all conclusive purports of devotional service and was empowered by the ocean to spread this water over the sea of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu himself. Thus the ocean of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu became full of the jewels of the knowledge of pure devotional service.”

“Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu”! First we have to know about Chaitanya. Chaitanya means consciousness. Chaitanya means who is always living in consciousness. Cahitanya is also inside Krisna and ouside Radha. And… Cahitanya – always is in one mood. Never comes in other mood. He is always living in the mood of how to love Krisna. Radha has only one mood. To love Krisna . She has no other mood. And how to love – that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is teaching. You see… first we don’t know who is Supreme Personality of Godhead. First we try to know about this. By mercy of the Spiritual Master and from “Gita” and “Bhagawatam” and sadhu-sangha we know about Krisna – that He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. And Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is giving only one thing. That you become chaitanya – you know yourself. This is chaitanya; achaitanya means – unconsciousness, you don’t know yourself. When you know that you are a soul – then what is your duty? To love the Supreme. And He is teaching by His actions. This is Chaitanya.

“Who is known as Gauranga.” He is the golden form of Radha (Gaurangi) and He becomes Gauranga. Radha Herself in the form of Gauranga. It is very difficult to serve Radha. Because some of us are in mail bodies. We want to enjoy; so in this mood we cannot think for Radha. If we become in full consciousness, then we can serve to Radharani. When we are half-in-half we have to go through Gauranga. So Chaitanya is Gauranga. You see, Mahaprabhu gives us parakiya mood, not sakiya. There are two moods – one is parakiya and one is sakiya. Parakiya means – what is the meaning, there is hidden meaning also. We have to go up to the hidden meaning – that is parakiya. So Caitanya is Gauranga.

“Ocean”. There are two things: one is river and one is ocean. River is going to the ocean. And what is river – river is religious practice. There are many religions; but religion is like a river. And every river is going in one ocean. So Mahaprabhu is not a river, He is not any religion – this is ocean. And that ocean is going to give you more divine thing – and that is pure love. So this is the ocean.

“All conclusive knowledge”. What knowledge we gather in our life – that is not complete. River is never complete; when it goes to the ocean then it becomes complete. So when you go and see the ocean – there is no existence of river there. This conclusive knowledge only Chaitanya is giving. You understand?

“In devotional service”. You see… what is meaning of devotional service? Say… you are practicing, say something?... You are working without saying to anyone. You are working in the office and you get money from there. What is that? Service? You serve there.  And you get money for that. That is not devotion. Service with devotion means – you don’t need anything. You have no desire to THINK for that: “I need something from that!” And you do that. That is devotion. And when you add “service” – that is devotional service. So nice! So sweet… It’s not any austerity! Not any pressure that you have to do this! It is coming to my heart to do this! Like one wife is taking care of her husband without telling anything. One mother is taking care for her child – nobody say to take care! But she does! You say: “You don’t do! Why you are doing?” Mother will say: “This is my duty. This is my child!” This is devotion. You say: “Why you are doing like this?” “Because he is my guru! I HAVE to do.. because this is my mother, this is my father, my everything…” That is devotion. It’s just coming from your heart, from your soul – to do something! That is devotion!

You see… “the cloud”. Ocean empowered the cloud. You see! The cloud is coming from ocean. You know this – water is coming from the ocean. So ocean empowered the cloud, because ocean cannot go everyplace. But cloud can go everyplace. Ocean empowered the cloud to go and spread this everyplace. And you see… I am qualified or I am not qualified… if you go and it’s raining outside, you will get the water of the cloud. This is the quality of cloud. But if you go in ocean – then you will get the mercy, you can see! But cloud is not seeing – you are qualified to take this rain or not. It’s raining! Only you have to go out – and you are in rain! So cloud is flowing mercy in every place. Ocean empowered the cloud to go and spread this. You understand?

“All conclusive purports”. What is that conclusive?  That conclusive is love. He empowered the cloud: “You go! And throw the LOVE to all!” And love is so complete! It is not incomplete, it is complete! And it floods everything; only we need to empty our pot. If your pot is empty you can receive the rain. And if the pot is full then you cannot receive the cloud water.

“This cloud was filled with the water of all conclusive purports of devotional service and was empowered by the ocean to spread this water over the SEA of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Himself.” This is the deep thing. “Thus the ocean of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu became full of the jewels of the knowledge of pure devotional service.” You see, “jewels” and “pure”. What is the jewel? Relation is the jewel. (not “religion” – religion is very river) JEWEL is relation, feeling, your DESIRE! These are the jewels in this river. And purity is love. Always love lives in purity. She never lives in impurity. She has only one place for living – and that is heart. And you can DO love from your soul. And soul is divine. And heart is pure. So she is living in purity. Radhe Radhe Govinda…

Purity. We have to understand the words. For what this word is? You can love so many people – by this purity.

“All glories to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu!” - because of these qualities of Yours – all glories to You. “All glories to Lord Nityananda!” Nityananda… is guru. All glories to Radha and Krisna. And then – to Nityananda. You see? Do not confuse this! Nityananda is not goal. Goal is Gauranga – Radha and Krisna. And Nityananda is helping you to reach there. Guru is helping to reach Gauranga. Don’t misunderstand! Goal is Gauranga; and helping to reach there – Nityananda.  Gauranga means Radha and Krisna, Radha’s Krisna. And Nityananda – soul is here. And Radha and Krisna is my goal. And how I will go there – this Nityananda is telling. We cannot reach to our goal without Nityananda. If I want to go to Radha Krisna directly – I cannot. Base is Nityananda. Shelter is Nityananda. But goal is not Nityananda. You understand?

“All glories to Adwaita Acharya…” Adwaita Acharya… is Maha Vishnu. Everything is there in Maha Vishnu. Vishnu is there, Siva is there, all are there.

“And all glories to all the devotees of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu!” Who will become devotee, always thinking to become devotee. We have to respect everyone who will become devotee and who is thinking to become devotee. We have to give glories to everyone without doing any offence, because love is pure. If you not glorify everyone, if you not respect everyone – love will not live, because love always lives in purity. We will become impure. And when we become impure – we CAN become religious, but we cannot go to the ocean. So for that ocean purity is important! For that love! So “all glories” is always important to do everywhere, to all vaisnavas.

“According to His previous program Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu went forward on his tour and after some days arrived at the place of pilgrimage, known as Jadaned Simha. Upon seeing the deity of Lord Nrisimha in the temple, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu offered His respectful obeisances by falling flat; then in ecstatic love, He performed various dances, chanted and offered prayers. All glories to Nrisimhadev, who is the Lord of Prahlad Maharaj and like a honey bee is always engaged in beholding the lotus-like face of the Goddess of Fortune.”

You see, this is the point. He starts dancing by thinking that Prahlad is a devotee of Nrisimha. He became in ecstasy by rememberin this – that this Nrisimhadev is the Lord of Prahlad! He not starts worshiping, but He became in ecstasy, because a five years old boy became devotee of Nrisimha. And he is so powerful bhakta in five years old! And we are so old and we don’t become like Prahlad! Because only for this feeling He is giving the mood. He has such a faith in Nrisimha; his father asked: “Where is your Nrisimha?” He said: “Everywhere.” He said: “In this wall?” “YES!” Then he broke the wall. And Nrisimha came out of the wall. This is the faith of Prahlad! In the five years old age. But we have no faith in our deity, our Ishta. We think that it is a statue. And if I feel it is a statue, my mind and heart will become like a statue. In the WALL he said: “My God is here!” And God came out of the wall. And in the front of mine He stays there, my lover is there and we say; “This is a statue.” Means – we are statues! So we see a statues… We are not devotees! If I am devotee I will SEE in the wall also: “My dear is here!” By thinking this Mahaprabhu starts dancing – you see, the five years old boy Is so intelligent and pure devotee, he is so in love, that he is seeing in the wall also his God – and he find God there! Why you will become in ecstasy? When something special you feel. Without that feeling you cannot become in ecstasy. This is His mood – He starts dancing by feeling this! And not only this. Whole of His life Hiranya Kashipy is torturing Prahlad. All of his life – you know his life? All his life his father wanted to kill him – his son. He doesn’t accept him. He doesn’t liked that “he is my son”. Because he is not following what he wants to do. After that this son never fights with his father. He is never angry with his father. He is always humble with his father. But his father wants to kill him. Because he is devotee and his father is demoniac. But, you see, when Nrisimha killed Hiranya Kashipy… Nrisimha became very angry; at that time Lakshmi came. He was very ferocious . Why he was so ferocious? Because “this person, Hiranya Kashipy, gives so much torturing to My devotee” So God never, Krisna never accepts if somebody tortures His devotee, give any trouble to His devotee. So he was very angry – Nrisimhadev. So what happened? When Prahlad came near to Nrisimhadev, then He became very quiet and He said to Prahlad: “What you like? You want something from Me? “ He said: “I don’t need.” If you ask a devotee: “Do you need something?” , he says :”I don’t need…” So Nrisimha is asking: “You have to ask! You ASK something from Me!” He said: “I don’t need anything!” But He said: “I have to give you something! So you HAVE TO ask something!” He said: “O.K. If You are pressing me to ask something, then do one thing for me. Please, excuse my father. I know that you are very angry with my father because he tortured me all the time, but I would say to excuse him! Don’t give any trouble to him! I know that You will send him in hell, so please, I request You to send him in heaven.” And Nrisimha became very happy! He embraced Prahlad. He said that “This is the quality of a vaisnava, devotee.” And He started kissing Prahlad. This small boy never asked for himself, he asked for his father, who tortured him all his life. And He said: “Don’t bother! You don’t need to say for him. He is your father. So what about your father, your grandfather, your grand-grand-father… seven generations like this – they all went from hell to heaven immediately. Because they are your parents. Parents of devotee. So automatically they will go to heaven. Because of your service and because of your love to Me. For that you don’t need to say. Not only seven generations – seven generations who are going to come also! They ALL will go to heaven, Vaikuntha, to My loka.” By thinking this – how do you feel? You feel some ecstasy? So like this Mahaprabhu became in ecstasy. Because He is pure – Chaitanya – and we are mixed; that’s why He became in ecstasy. He started dancing, He started to become very happy to remember Prahlad Ishta, Nrisimha is the Ishta of Prahlad.

“Although very furious, the lioness is very kind to her cubs. Similarly, although very furious to non-devotees like Hiranya Kashipy, Lord Nrisimhadev is very very soft to the devotees like Prahlad Maharaj. In this way Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu recited different verses from the Shastra. The priest of Lord Nrisimha then brought garlands and the remnants of the Lord’s food and offered them to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.” What is quoting He from the Shastras, from “Bhagawatam”? These thing – about the qualities of Prahlad. This ferocious lion, the lion-god becomes soft by seeing Prahlad. He was VERY angry! So angry – you cannot imagine! Even Goddess Lakshmi cannot make Him quiet. Only Prahlad, His devotee – by seeing the devotee He became quiet and happy. Very nice… Very nice…

“As usual a brahmana offered to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu an invitation. Lord passed the night in the temple and then commenced His tour again. “ When you listen about some brahmana… Mahaprabhu is very formal. And when He will see a devotee, He will become very informal. You see… This story you will see…

“The next morning, in the great ecstasy of love….” You see! NEXT morning! Not with the brahmana… GREAT ecstasy! Not small.. You want to see the ecstasy? Go and watch the ocean – and you see the ecstasy of ocean! Waves… Like a mad is moving the ocean… These are the waves of the great ecstasy. When love will come in your hearts this will come like a wave… You cannot sleep! If you sleep in the bed you will feel like some pin is putting you and you cannot sleep. Ecstasy! Ecstasy can feel only the person who taste love in his heart. He knows about ecstasy. Yes? Yes…. GREAT ecstasy! Ha-ha…. So nice… Great ecstasy….

“The next morning, in the great ecstasy of love Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu started on His tour with no knowledge of the proper direction and He continued the whole day and night.” When you are in ecstasy you have no knowledge what you are doing. If you have knowledge outside, then your ecstasy will go. He had no knowledge…. Radhe…. “Cahitanya Charitamrita” when you reed – you go inside. From where you open, it can take you inside. Any page, any thing you open – and you will go in ecstasy! You will start melting. This is the mood of Mahaprabhu Chaitanya. Because She is Radha! Radha is always melting in ecstasy. Great ecstasy! Forgets His way to go – where is going, what is doing – He don’t knows… He is so much in ecstasy He forgets where He is going. All the time He is in ecstasy. If you come out – your ecstasy will go. If you get the knowledge about outside – your ecstasy will go. And if you are in ecstasy you forget outside. Right or wrong? Ecstasy is only with you when you forget everything from outside.

Comment: Difficult.

Sadhu Maharaj: Where is the difficulty? It’s so natural! This is the natural, this is not difficult. What is difficult? What we are doing day to day. Think! If you judge yourself: “O! What I am doing is very difficult!” This is natural… not difficult. And what we are doing are unnatural and difficult things.

“As previously Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu converted to vaisnavism many people He met on the road. After some days the Lord  reached the banks of the river Godavari.” What is vaisnavism? Vaisnava means” who can feel the difficulty of others”. If I have no feeling to feel other’s difficulty – I am not a vaisnava. Vaisnava means – automatically you can feel the difficulties of others. He changes the heart, he make from stone to soft. And when you are soft, you can feel others, you can see others – what I can help? And when you are not vaisnava you want to use others. This is the difference. If I am not vaisnava I have false ego. If I have false ego I don’t understand about the soul and there will be no humbleness. And if you see a vaisnava, he is very humble, because he knows that he is soul. And he is feeling at every place existence of Krisna. So how you will become in false ego when you see Krisna every place? You will become humble automatically. This is vaisnava. Like I change my cloth I become sannyasi? If I am not acting like that – I am not! I have to act like that, I have to behave like that. From outside by changing is nothing! You have to change from INSIDE! This is vaisnavism. “Grihe tako vane tako -  if you live in forest, you are renounced person or you are in family life – that is nothing!” You see the poem of Narottam Das Thakur: “Grihe tako vane tako/ ha gouranga bole dako – you CAN cry for Gauranga, you can feel Gauranga, that is the reality!” You can feel, you can think for Gauranga, you can take His essence in your life – that is vaisnavism! He changed in one second everyone to think like this – by His ecstasy, by His behaviour, by His actions – because He is seeing every living entity like a soul. And others by seeing the ecstasy of Gauranga – everybody became in ecstasy. So they changed!

“When He saw the river Godavadi, the Lord remembered the river Yamuna and when He saw the forest on the banks of the river, He remembered Sri Vrindavana Dham. “ You see? What is the meaning of this? You ask one mother, or one lover – when she sees any boy , mother feels “he is also walking like my boy. He is similar like my boy.” And if you see – one person, who is full of love with someone. When he will see another person - he is not that person – but by seeing another person he will feel that “he is my lover!” Why? Because his mind, his feeling is fixed in his lover. So mother fixes her feeling in her son and beloved fixed in his lover. So where he sees – he sees his thing, where he sees – he remembers his lover. So by seeing Godavari, Mahaprabhu remembered Vrindavan, He remembered Yamuna – “Yamuna is flowing like this”. Mahaprabhu is attached to Yamuna and when He sees another river, He thinks this is Yamuna, He don’t knows that this is not Yamuna! Why? Because of the attachment. He is ATTACHED so much to Yamuna – where He sees, He sees Yamuna. Where He sees any forest He remembers Vrindavana. He is SO attached! So by this way we will know how to attache. Where I see I will se my Guru. If you are attached to your Guru, you can see him in every person. My feeling is – I see my Guru everyplace. Because I am so attached with my Guru – where I see, I see my Guru. And I like to say to every Guru “Gurudev”! Even I see in other persons sometimes – they teach me like Guru. I accept that. When you are attached – you see all the place! This is your quality! Attachment is the best thing! Radhe Radhe Govinda….

“After performing His usual chanting and dancing for some time in this forest, the Lord crossed the river and took His bath on the other bank.” He is taking bath in the river. But He is thinking: “I am taking bath in Yamuna”. He is taking normal river bath in Godavari, but He is feeling – it’s Yamuna! So what is the main thing – what is my feeling. What is my attachment. If there is attachment and feeling – things will come to you. And He filled that Yamuna is there! And He took bath in Yamuna! Whan you go and you take bath in ocean – you feel you take bath in Caitanya, because He Himself said that He is ocean and the cloud is Raya Ramananda like Guru – so the rain is coming, you take bath – Gurudev is giving mercy. Because this cloud is coming from Chaitanya, from the ocean; and this cloud is like Guru is giving mercy to us. And we have to take this mercy. And if you do like this you can accept the mercy in that raining! If you embrace ocean like this, you will feel that you are with Chaitanya. When Mahaprabhu is taking bath in Godavari and He is thinking that He is taking bath in Yamuna – when He can do why not we can do like this? He is teaching! You see? All depends of one’s feeling, attachment.

“After bathing in the river the Lord walked a little distance from the bathing place and engaged in chanting the holly name of Krisna. “ What is holly name of Krisna? Should I explain the name?

Sadhu Maharaj: Sing: Hare Krisna Hare Krisna Krisna Krisna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare… You see… Here… is meaning Radha. And Here is meaning to cover something. If you cover means – you CAPTURE something! That is also Hare. When you embrace something with full pressure and you are most powerful – then you hare to other. So Hare – Radha – Hare Krishna. Hare Krisna! Radha captures Krisna like this in embrace. Hare Krisna.  Krisna – He don’t understands what is going on…  Krisna opens His eyes wide… Krisna Krisna Hare Hare…

Yamuna: He embraces Radha.

Sadhu Maharaj: Hare… You see – again. Hare Hare – two meanings, at one time there are two meanings. Hare – Radha and hare – embrace. Hare Krisna… Krisna Hare Hare…. Ha-ha-ha… They become Chaitanya! They become… ONE! But Krisna is inside and Radha is ouside – Chaitanya. Hare Krisna… Hare Krisna… Krisna… Krisna… HARE Hare… Aaah! Taste! And you will not leave chanting! When you are chanting and seeing this – you are going inside! You can see His all pastimes, you can see Him – directly! Second line: Hare Rama… What is the meaning of Rama?

Ram Vijay: Ananda?

Sadhu Maharaj: Rama means… Ra – for Radha and Ma for Madhava. Ra… Ma…  So Ra Ma – Radha and Madhava They become one. So this is Rama. When Radha Madhava become one, like this! Krisna is inside and Radha is outside. First Radharani pressed Krisna and then Krisna pressed Radharani. Hare first Krisna. Then Krisna Hare Hare. So they become Rama. They become two in one. Half-in half They become, we can see half-in-half – RaMa. Yo see.. Hare Rama – by this way these two are capturing my heart. By seeing I forget myself – by seeing this… I have never listened this and never seen this – but when I listen this, then I start seeing this. I cannot control my heart.  This meeting of Divine Couple – hare – this captures me. Hare Rama Hare Rama. Radha Madhava hare to me. Rama Rama – these two – say: “What you are doing so far? Hare Hare – come!” They say to the soul: “Hare! Come!” This is divine name. Hare Krisna Hare Krisna Krisna Krisna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare…

This is Maharasa – mahamantra! They are three – Radha, Krisna and who is singing. This is Maharasa. Divine name – this is divine. Means: Radha is divine, Krisna is divine and soul is divine. See this play of three divine! One is singing… and we are seeing this divine pastime. So… Mahaprabhu is singing this mahamantra. And He becomes mad when He sees like this. Hare Krisna Hare Krisna Krisna Krisna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare… So divine! No? Ha-ha-ha! You can live all the time in ecstasy by this! Name is pure. Soul is pure. Your Ishta is pure. Ista means Krisna. The form – like Radha and Krisna.. If you fix, concentrate in this form – this becomes your Ishta. Once you have to fix your Ishta. You fix your Guru in one form – so you need one Ishta form, one Radha-Krisna form. All the time it will come in your mind. Like your Guru is in your mind; if only you think – you remember him, the form will come. So Ishta form is also important. For this – name is divine, soul is divine, your Ishta is divine, Guru is divine and Prem  is divine. These five – is the divine thing! In any one of them if you live – you will become divine. And if you live in the five things… you’re perfect.

It’s nine thirty, you have to go to work.. O, sorry! You have to set time…

In mornings we can discuss from “Chaitanya Charitamrita”  - any page if you open and you will see everyplace Mahaprabhu is telling how to develop your mood, how to develop your attachment – how to love, how to cry, how to remember Him, how to become mad like Him… This is the ecstasy of Chaitanya!
